“You don’t like it, do you?” whispered Nick, his warm breath tickling Stephen’s ear.
“It sounds like a yard full of cats having their tails cut off.”
“So, you don’t like the violins?”
At that point, the woman in the seat in front favoured them both with a steely-eyed glare.
Nick returned an apologetic smile.
Stephen looked unrepentant, but the woman forgave him anyway.
Nick slid a surreptitious hand up his companion’s thigh.
They were approaching the third and final movement, and his respect for both the composer and the audience made it imperative that he distract Stephen, and quickly.
